Introducing MT5 – A Comprehensive Overview

MT4 is the platform of choice for seasoned traders around the world. Shun, who has been using MT4 for years, says the draw was its sophistication and speed. When he started using it, it was the only option, and many traders grew up using MT4.

Hein appreciates the platform’s many features. For him, the platform is easy to use for day-to-day trading.

Ivan describes MT4 as a classic platform, adding that 

 offers more value and tools, including access to more time frames, graphic objects and indicators for more in-depth analysis. He appreciates the way it allows users to trade forex in addition to cryptos, commodities, futures and other assets.

Hein enjoys using MT5 because other assets can become part of the crypto ecosystem. It allows you to easily venture into other asset classes without switching platforms. Hein hopes that this is the first step in allowing 24-hour trading of other asset classes. It’s also beneficial because it supports easy diversification.

Shun sheds light on the fact that MT5 uses a different design language incorporating AI, which improves auto trading.

Ivan describes one of the key benefits of MT5 as that of user access to top traders, or Expert Advisors. Users can view and copy their trade strategies, including algorithmic trading and more complex trading strategies. Ivan mentions that the transition from MT4 to MT5 is easy because of the minor yet important differences in its design. MT5 offers other products that aren’t available on MT4, and more asset classes may be added later.

Shun relates an incident in which he quickly turned $8,000 into $40,000. He also describes making a mistake with the size of a trade, and having to deal with the consequences. Hein mentioned that he also had that issue back in the early days of trading. Now, however, the technology is more sophisticated, with better risk management features in place, and this type of mistake is nearly impossible.

Shun says that, in general, risk management is the user’s responsibility. If you have $100,000 available for investment, for example, invest only $5,000. That way, you’re only risking 5% of your original amount.

Shun mentions that there’s a fee or commission associated with each trade, based on the spread. This commission doesn’t apply to all trades. He discusses investing a small amount of your pot for each trade in order to reduce risk.

Ivan defines the leverage amounts for different types of assets. With this feature, you’re less vulnerable in times of extreme volatility. The features can be adjusted to help investors and traders make informed decisions through deeper analysis. Ivan goes into detail to explain how easy it is to use the different indicators through a drop-and-drop function in order to make informed decisions. These indicators can be customized through a pop-up window.

Looking Ahead – The Future of Trading on MT5

According to Shun, Bybit’s MT5 interface is user-friendly when implemented on a mobile device. You no longer need to use your PC to make trades. However, some traders need access to a full setup (with a PC and multiple screens) to review all data at one time.

Hein describes the importance of diversification to minimizing your exposure to risk, while optimizing opportunities for growth. He believes that MT5 is on track to support this goal.

Ivan discusses the possibility of bringing stock indexes to the platform. MT5 is open to bringing more products to the platform so that users don’t need to switch apps for different commodities. There’s also a plan to bring individual stocks to the platform as well.

Curated in collaboration with AOI, a foundation supporting the intersection of art and technology, the Velocity Series will showcase four NFT drops throughout the 2024 season. ICYMI: How Bybit and Oracle Red Bull Racing are Innovating Fan Culture

In our latest Learn 101 livestream session, we gathered an esteemed panel of crypto experts to share insights on whether BTC will soar to $100K by 2024.

The extreme volatility of Bitcoin and periods of strong growth throughout its history have created substantial wealth for many investors. Bitcoin breached $70,000 earlier in 2024, and many investors are eagerly awaiting price movement to $100,000.

Bitcoin's Journey — Looking Back to Look Forward

At the start of the livestream, Michael Ionita created an automated trading order to demonstrate how easy it is. It remained running in the background until the end of the stream, when our guests reviewed the order.

Throughout the years, Bitcoin’s price has been influenced by the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, government policy, ETF applications and other factors. Henrique Centieiro stated that short-term macroeconomics are impacted by the Federal Reserve. The economy is currently relatively shaky, and he anticipates more money will be printed. When this last took place, the stock market shot up, and Bitcoin’s price increased substantially. Centieiro attributes this to the level of increased money in circulation.

Referring to a chart that shows a correlation between lowered U.S. interest rates and Bitcoin’s price, Ionita demonstrated that increased money supply has boosted Bitcoin’s prices.

Jerry Li is bullish over the next six months. He reminded us that inflation weakens both the U.S. dollar and purchasing power, and as interest rates drop, he sees a correction in the crypto market that will positively affect Bitcoin’s price.

Centieiro stated that some people will take profits during the rate adjustment. He believes that the next month may be bearish, but there will then be a bull rush.

Ionita said that the market has been impacted by Russia’s new Bitcoin policy, asserting that this is bringing more funds into Bitcoin. However, many people in Russia are holding Bitcoin on a short-term basis because they’re making purchases with it. This makes Russia’s policy impact both bullish and bearish: Ionita maintains that other countries may act on this by prohibiting or limiting Bitcoin because of world events.

Meanwhile, Centieiro stated that the amount of money being kept on exchanges is at an all-time low, which means people are holding for a longer period of time. Bitcoin miners continue to invest in mining equipment. In addition, Michael Saylor has stated that Bitcoin’s price will reach 

Li drew attention to the fact that recently, hash power has increased dramatically, which is attributable to the entrance of more people and countries into the crypto market.

Ionita described the Bitcoin Spot ETF rally of 100%, attributing it to massive public interest. He believes BTC’s price is being heavily restricted because of this huge interest, and expects its price to rise by the end of October, based on the interest in Bitcoin Spot ETFs.

Centieiro said that there’s a lag as money managers decide whether to invest or not. Adding Bitcoin to a fund, even in small amounts, increases diversity and lower risks. He believes this is a win-win situation for money managers.

Li reminded us that Bitcoin will definitely reach $100,000 at some point, but nobody knows when. The upcoming U.S. election may drive its price up, but it could also bring greater volatility. Other catalysts may drive the price up as well.

Ionita referred to his screen again, saying that it’s hard to predict a price for something with multiple variables. However, he referred to the Fibonacci cycle for the current market, which reveals a Bitcoin price prediction between $200,000 to $300,000, adding that it’s impossible to predict the time frame. The average cycle time, however, is 1,069 days, which would extrapolate to the end of October 2025, but this time frame is fuzzy. He believes $200,000 is realistic for the cycle.

Centieiro described some price movement obstacles that have prevented Bitcoin’s price increase or slowed the time frame for BTC hitting $100,000 — the uncertainty of the U.S. election, for one. He also referred to a chart showing a lower flow in market-based mining activity. This indicates a type of magnet for the price. Centieiro also introduced a power log that shows BItcoin’s price should currently be around $90,000. He believes the current price is a pressure cooker, and the price will therefore greatly increase.

Zitane said the main risks that could stymie BTC price growth are regulatory uncertainty, economic instability and military conflicts, among others, directly affecting BTC’s price.

Ionita added that investors should get out of any risky asset in a downturn in order to prevent loss. He stressed the importance of understanding that both BTC and the U.S. dollar are preferred as investments in different situations, and showed a graph indicating that dollar-cost averaging (DCA) isn’t a wise approach for risky assets.

Li, however, stated that he uses DCA. He believes it’s a healthy strategy over a long period of time, due to his confidence that Bitcoin’s price will eventually go back up after a dip.

Centieiro agreed with Ionita that it’s not advisable to use DCA for an asset that’s going to zero. However, he doesn’t believe that Bitcoin will ever go to zero. Centieiro believes in DCA as a solid, long-term strategy to smooth out BTC market volatility.

Zitane has a simple strategy: he only uses DCA. He makes a purchase, and then buys again if the price goes down. He pays attention to the news, keeps buying when the price goes down and continues to reduce his average price.

Ionita reminded us that you can make more money with manual trading if you know what you’re doing. Most people aren’t professional traders, though, and can get wrecked in a bear market if they don’t stay on top of things. He recommends that these traders use an automated algorithm.

Smart Trading — Entering and Exiting with Confidence

Centieiro explained how he enters a trade: he buys BTC and holds it for at least a few years, looking for a relatively cheaper price as compared to previous prices. This is determined by a look at the 200-day moving average. He also looks at the Crypto Fear & Greed Index. Centieiro explained that investors must decide how long they plan to hold BTC 

 buying it. He invests a portion of his investment amount at one time, and spreads the rest of his investment out over several weeks.

Ionita, however, holds his BTC over several months. He looks at Fibonacci and other charts to invest funds in BTC and several other assets, based on risk. He maintains a specific allocation, with more allocation to the least risky assets.

Anson Tan discusses the differences between the two Bybit copy trading apps. He prefers 

, which is significantly different from Copy Trading. With Copy Trading Pro, the Master Trader handles the funds, which eliminates time delays and the need for the trader to sit in front of the computer.

Ether Chen explains Bybit Copy Trading as a way for new 

 to expand their influence and reach new users. Investors can choose which Master Trader to follow. Some are boosted traders, which means that their users get a 10% boost if the Master Trader is wrong.

Chen also discusses the differences between the traditional platform and Copy Trading Pro. The former requires a considerable amount of analysis. Investors can choose a Master Trader based on their risk tolerance, and receive trader alerts via notifications. Meanwhile, Copy Trading Pro establishes the Master Trader as an asset manager. In order to access their funds, traders must redeem their shares.

Trade Like a Pro: Insider Strategies from Top Bybit Traders

Ilia Petrov uses AI in different ways for his trading strategy. In addition to moderating risk through AI, he uses diversification to produce a smooth return without major dips. This type of trend trading has been profitable for him, with less exposure to risk.

Tan emphasizes the importance of choosing a Master Trader. When Copy Trading, he chooses a more aggressive Master Trader. With Copy Trading Pro, he prefers more stable Master Traders. Tan expects a monthly return of up to 20% for Copy Trading, and up to 6% for Copy Trading Pro.

Petrov has different strategies for beginners and experienced traders, as well as different strategies based on risk and return. His strategies are communicated to his users via social media and chat. All of his AI strategies have been backtested.

Chen recommends that newcomers avoid looking at growth over just the past few days. Instead, he recommends looking at a time period of 14 to 30 days, which enables a more stable return. He also recommends paying attention to leverage and frequency, based on risk, when copying a Master Trader.

Chen explores how Bybit’s two copy trading platforms work. After choosing a Master Trader on Copy Trading, users can select a sync function to copy that Master Trader’s settings. Then, Followers can select how much money they want to invest. After submitting the funds, the setup process is done. Followers can then view a dashboard showing the Master Trader's activities.

Bybit vs. Others: What Sets Our Platform Apart

Bybit stands apart from other platforms in several ways. As an example, Chen cites Bybit’s user-friendliness, such as the two-step process to set up copy trading. Petrov appreciates the fast setup process, both to connect with Master Traders and to disconnect from them.

Chen discusses several features that differentiate Bybit from other copy trading platforms, including SyncMaster, a feature that allows the Master Trader to easily align with all followers. Bybit’s wireless management system is another distinguishing feature, available exclusively by invitation. An additional feature — copy trading protection — encourages new users to try copy trading by covering losses. Finally, existing loss coverage gives experienced copy traders an element of loss mitigation.

Petrov doesn’t make adjustments to his strategies based on user feedback and requests, stating that his strategies have been time-tested. Making changes to them could result in the risk of loss. He does, however, create new strategies. Petrov adds that he’d like Bybit to expand its analysis of a Master Trader over a longer period of time.

Introducing the Market Sentiments — A Comprehensive Overview

Global economic events shape market sentiment and drive prices. When you know how to analyze market sentiment and volatility, you can position yourself to profit from your analysis of them. Markus Thielen illustrated this by discussing how Bitcoin’s price moved during the most recent Federal Reserve announcement. Initially, Bitcoin rallied around the announcement before seeing a sell-off. Currently, there’s once again movement in anticipation of an upcoming Fed announcement. According to Thielen, technical analysis is about looking at market structure and positioning for macroeconomic events.

Toh Shun Gui, on the other hand, said he believes that, for newcomers, it’s best not to trade when the market is choppy. He deferred to Thielen to show newcomers how to position themselves using technical analysis. Thielen stated that technical analysis allows traders to take advantage of opportunities in a time of risk or volatility by encouraging them to make unemotional decisions in times when fear is high. He uses a 21-week moving average to determine whether or not he should be active in the market at a given time.

Thielen stated that if you don’t make the right call, don’t take it personally. You don’t have to be accurate 100% of the time to make money. Instead, you need to be accurate closer to 55% or more of the time. For 

, try using a smaller amount of your portfolio. Thielen believes that there will be more value investors in the crypto market who buy the dip.

There are signals to focus on when timing market sentiment. Thielen draws attention to the 

. Using technical analysis, he discerns opportunities that begin 250 days before halving and extend 250 days after it. He also points out that the weekly relative strength index (

) eliminates noise present in the daily index, which enables you to see trends. Combining the 21-week moving average with these factors gives you a clearer picture.

Cracking the Code to Find the Best TA Combination

Thielen discussed reverse indicators when trying to crack the code. For example, when you look at the RSI both currently and in relation to the 5- or 7-day moving average, you can see momentum. In addition, you can push the moving average out on a longer time frame.

According to Toh, indicator overload can trigger poor decisions. He recommends finding a few indicators to monitor, based on your personality. Thielen reinforced this approach, remarking that confusion doesn’t enable you to make smart decisions. Find what works for you. If you like to 

, look at momentum indicators. If you’re focused on long-term growth, look at moving average indicators.

Toh pointed out that losing money is actually a valuable experience. It teaches you fundamentals, such as the speed of the market. Thielen suggested that, when finding a strategy that suits you, don’t follow a social media trader. Make decisions and learn from your experiences using indicators that match your interests. Through your own experiences, you can learn about your emotions and understand what kind of trading strategy you need to use. 

According to Thielen, you look at the 21-week moving average in real time. This needs to be taken into consideration with macroeconomic data and world events. An investor must look at the risk and reward for the current conditions. To minimize risk, he recommends using a 

 to protect against losses due to major, sudden events. You can also mitigate loss by limiting how heavily you invest, based on your portfolio value. Having a strategy decreases both stress and the risk of loss related to emotionally motivated decision-making.

According to Thielen, conflicting signals often cancel each other out. However, he added that investors must also look at the big picture in relation to trends and events. Moreover, he recommends reading insights from other experienced investors to learn how they read the signals in given situations.

Technical analysis plays a key role in identifying investment opportunities and aligning your decisions and strategies. Understanding what the indicators are and how they can help you identify opportunities is essential. Regular focus on education and making risk-managed decisions to gain real-life experience will help you apply technical analysis successfully.

Understanding Current Crypto Market Conditions

When asked about the differences between a market correction and a full-blown fair market, Ionita asserts that the crypto market is relatively straightforward as compared to other markets. Says Ionita, “Use the 200 moving average and see if the price is below that.” He warns not to simply act on a one-day dip. If it’s breaking with critical support, however, that’s a good signal.

, which is currently at 74, shows optimism in the market as compared to July 2021 when the index was at 51. Ionita adds that in a crypto bull market, “We’re greedy as hell for a few months, and there’s no correction.” He uses additional indicators with the Crypto Fear & Greed Index for clarification.

According to Li, the Crypto Fear & Greed Index is a “current indicator for a future time” that needs to be taken into account with upcoming major events. Chen adds that he sees higher short-term volatility in an optimistic market, stating that he’s often a 

Ionita believes that most traders don’t have time to constantly watch for news and signals. For these people, he advised, “Following the trend is the best approach.” He has successfully used this strategy, but adds that it’s important to get out before the trend to take advantage of larger movements. He suggests 

 if you don’t have time to watch the market.

Li admits that he is “a terrible trader in terms of direction” and takes a different approach: he looks at the market's volatility, instead of simply direction. Li believes the easiest strategy for new investors is to buy and hold. Seasoned traders can use different approaches to take advantage of market volatility.

Chen recommends that traders “invest in a large cap and trade within the 

.” He says that risk is moderated when you invest for a longer period of time. Chen describes an investment as holding crypto for anywhere from three months to a year or longer.

In response to one of the questions, Ionita said that one of his biggest concerns about the market is the possibility of a third world war. He mentions that this has a low probability, and that there’s a higher yet still low probability of a successful Trump assassination. These factors could trigger extreme crypto market volatility. Despite the recent correction, he believes a long-term climb is ahead.

Chen is most concerned about the lack of new tech and applications affecting the crypto market. He believes that the market’s growth should be driven by economics as well as internal factors.

Li agrees with Ionita, building on Chen’s comments and citing new

Originating from earlier concepts like farm-to-earn and play-to-earn, these games simplify the earning process to basic actions such as tapping or swiping. This model appeals to a broad audience by lowering barriers to entry and offering a straightforward way for players to earn cryptocurrency, all while engaging in enjoyable gameplay.

Two distinguished guests joined the livestream on Jul 11, 2024: Geezee, Head of Gaming at Mantle, and Dirk Pennings, web3 enthusiast. Sabrina Chua, Crypto Evangelist and SEO Editor at Bybit, moderated the episode, which explored the evolution and mechanics of tap-to-earn games and included several successful case studies.

The livestream begins with a historical overview of the evolution of crypto gaming, a journey that began with farm-to-earn games (such as 

) in which players would cultivate digital farms to collect coins. These early games laid the groundwork for more complex models, including 

, which combines strategic gameplay with economic incentives and allows players to earn real cryptocurrency through in-game activities. This model revolutionized the gaming industry by introducing a new dimension in which virtual achievements translated into tangible financial rewards.

As Geezee succinctly put it, “The model that we've seen so far is honestly not something very new to the gaming industry: tap idle games (or before, we just called them idle games), where tapping is a mechanic where you can earn from or to kind of grow and progress through the game. This kind of game has already existed probably for at least 10 to 15 years.” 

Emphasizing the fundamental divergence from earlier games, he continued, ”But one kind of unique element for tap-to-earn games is that now instead of just growing your character, or growing your own in-game assets, you're actually able to convert some of these in-game assets at certain proportions through certain mechanisms into real cryptocurrencies that have value in the real world and can be, you know, off-ramped through various different exchanges like Bybit.” 

Unlike their predecessors, tap-to-earn games are designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind. The onboarding process for these hyper-casual games is extremely simple, allowing players to start quickly without needing to buy NFTs or spend money up front. While these games are easy to play and get involved in, earning within them takes time, calculation and a deep understanding of their mechanisms.

Deep Dive Into Tap-to-Earn Game Mechanics

Chua shifted the conversation to the mechanics of tap-to-earn games. The panelists reasoned that these games are fundamentally businesses aiming to monetize, often through user data, ads and sponsorships, rather than direct user payments. To generate revenue and provide earnings for players, they design tasks like quests, daily check-ins and spending challenges to prove user engagement, attract more users, and retain valuable players. 

The games often involve simple actions, such as tapping, merging in-game items or completing basic tasks to progress. This simplicity makes them appealing to a wide range of players, including those who may not have the time or resources to invest in more complex gaming models.

“They need to generate revenue first. And so that's why you would see that in the game design there's always going to be quests involved, there's always going to be different tasks or daily checking activities involved,” Geezee argued. 

These games aim to prove they have real users for bigger sponsorships and ads, attract more users through referrals and social media, and encourage spending within the game. Accomplishing these tasks generates value for the ecosystem, making players valuable users who are then retained through 

 and other incentives. Earning in these games is more about completing tasks and side quests than just playing. 

Geezer concluded: “So for tactical games, one of the most important parts of actually being able to earn from the game is … not actually playing or tapping away, but accomplishing all the different tasks and side quests that are part of the game, because then you become somewhat valuable to them and then to be able to keep you around, they’ll be giving you airdrops and giving you different ways to keep you inside their ecosystem.”

However, maintaining economic balance and preventing market saturation are critical challenges that developers need to address.
